Alvin Bragg’s New York is Not Safe For Women

In New York City, under District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a repeat offender who randomly attacks women is more than likely going to be released without bail just a few hours after his arrest.  The charge against him is likely to be dropped, or if he is convicted he will be sentenced to probation.  Bragg, who was elected with financial support from pro-criminal socialist George Soros, considers most assaults which do not involve weapons as non-violent crimes.  In late March New York’s ABC affiliate reported on multiple random attacks of women including a man who punched a 27-year-old woman in the face in Greenwich Village at 2 p.m. on March 25, and on the same day, a 36-year-old woman was punched in the back.  Shortly after noon on March 26, a 24-year-old woman was slugged in the head. On the 23rd a 23-year-old woman was slapped in the head on West 42nd street.  On the 19th a 30-year-old woman was slugged on Delancey Street.

On April 24th the New York Daily News reported on, Jean Carlos Zarzuela, a vagrant who punched a woman breaking her nose.  Four days after his release without bail, Zarzuela went to Grand Central Station and sucker-punched a 9-year-old girl.  He is also a suspect in the April 4 attack on a 56-year-old woman, also at Grand Central Station.  A few days later CBS News reported on a 16-year-old teen who ran up behind a 68-year-old woman walking up the steps at her New York church, knocking her down and beating her before stealing her purse.  The victim suffered a fractured skull and was in the ICU for several days.

None of this is unusual. Earlier this year we saw security camera footage of a woman being beaten and bloodied by a stranger in the subway and another video of a man playing his cello for commuters in the subway when a 23-year-old woman sucker-punched him on the back of the head.  The attacker, who had multiple prior arrests, was released without bail.

District Attorney Bragg, who ran for office on the promise to eliminate racially bias prosecutions, does not seem interested in prosecuting anybody.

New York City used to be a safe place for a woman to walk alone, at least during the day.  This is no longer true.

Bragg will be up for re-election in 2025.
