Art Pedroza of New Santa Ana <a href=\"https:\/\/newsantaana.com\/an-undocumented-felon-who-killed-two-o-c-teens-in-a-dui-collision-may-be-getting-out-of-prison-early\/\">reports<\/a> that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) plans to release Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano in July.\u00a0 The illegal alien repeat felon was convicted of the 2021 death of 19-year-old Anya Varfolomeev and 19-year-old Nicholay Osokin when he crashed his speeding car into them while driving drunk and without a license.\u00a0 It was not Ortega-Anguiano&#8217;s first run-in with law enforcement.\u00a0 Over the past several years the CDCR has increased the good-time and rehabilitation credits for violent criminals to the point where most only serve a fraction of their sentences. The CDCR is under the direct authority of the Governor who has publicly announced his goal of emptying out state prisons.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Fortunately for law-abiding Californians the Trump administration&#8217;s newly appointed U.S. Attorney is filing federal immigration charges against Ortega-Anguiano which carry a twenty-year sentence in federal prison.<\/p>\n<p>With California both a sanctuary and soft-on-crime state controlled by progressive democrats, even the most aggressive state prosecutors are unable to lock up violent criminals due to state laws that reduce the consequences for crimes while ignoring the rights of victims.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice, a Soros-bankrolled front group for criminals&#8217; rights, rallied at the state capitol to demand more programs and funding for crime victims. Handing out money to the families of victims killed or injured by criminals set free by Governor Newsom is never going to solve the crime problem.
