Ben Feuerherd <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/06\/02\/hundreds-of-nyc-looters-to-be-cut-loose-without-bail\/\">reports<\/a> in the NY Post:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>More than 400 people were awaiting arraignment in Manhattan criminal court Tuesday afternoon for allegedly looting stores Monday night \u2014 and most will likely be cut loose without bail because of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/04\/26\/bill-bratton-slams-criminal-justice-reform-virus-plaguing-nyc\/\">state law passed<\/a> earlier this year, a court spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/06\/02\/nypd-chief-of-department-speaks-out-outraged-at-gov-cuomo\/\">interview with The Post<\/a> earlier Tuesday, NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan lamented that most of the looters arrested Monday night and early Tuesday morning would be \u201cback out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut when it comes to a burglary, which is a commercial store, which is looting, they\u2019re back out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of bail reform, you\u2019re back out on the street the next day. You cannot be held on any sort of bail. I spoke to (Manhattan District Attorney) Cy Vance about that. He told me there was nothing he could do,\u201d he added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bail &#8220;reform&#8221; is a disaster, which is becoming more clear every day.
