As such, police departments are asked to enforce a system of laws that are designed to reinforce and maintain economic and racial inequality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s kind of ironic. Here she is demanding $150 million be reallocated from the police budget, but yet she has security at her house by the Los Angeles Police Department,\u201d said Det. Jamie McBride, who serves as director of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, the LAPD\u2019s union.<\/p>\n<p>Spectrum News 1 shot exclusive video of the units standing watch at Martinez\u2019s home last week after receiving a tip about the private security detail&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Neighbors confirmed the units had been there for two months, but didn\u2019t want to speak on camera, only saying they were pleased with having private security provided by the LAPD in their neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple LAPD sources confirmed the units were directed to provide 24\/7 security beginning April 4 at Martinez\u2019s home, almost always staffed by two officers. As of May 6, we\u2019re told the detail decreased to 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. with roving patrol checks overnight.<\/p>\n<p>McBride said with the city of Los Angeles facing a budget crisis amid the COVID-19 pandemic, he feels Martinez should have hired private security instead of using taxpayer dollars to fund round-the-clock protection.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Remembering my father&#8217;s admonition to me to &#8220;thank God for your enemies,&#8221;
