{"id":2359,"date":"2020-11-06T15:52:26","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T23:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=2359"},"modified":"2020-11-06T15:52:26","modified_gmt":"2020-11-06T23:52:26","slug":"buying-the-los-angeles-district-attorney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=2359","title":{"rendered":"Buying the Los Angeles District Attorney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While there are still several hundred thousand votes yet to be counted, it appears that former San Francisco District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n has defeated incumbent Jackie Lacey in the race for Los Angeles County District Attorney.\u00a0\u00a0 Last year, Gasc\u00f3n resigned his post in San Francisco supposedly to take care of his mother in Los Angeles, then almost immediately announced he would challenge Lacey.\u00a0 His record in San Francisco had been abysmal.\u00a0 The city became the property crime capitol of America last year, and homicides increased dramatically under Gasc\u00f3n&#8217;s progressive anti-law enforcement leadership.\u00a0 Even ultra-liberal SF Mayor London Breed endorsed Lacey. \u00a0 Yet Gasc\u00f3n won the LA vote by a margin of 7.5%.\u00a0 How did this happen?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Money made it happen.\u00a0 In perhaps the most expensive District Attorney&#8217;s race in U.S. history, Gasc\u00f3n raised nearly $12.5 million&#8230;$5.4 million more than his opponent, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/projects\/la-district-attorney-race-top-donors\/\">reported<\/a> by the Los Angeles Times.\u00a0 The largest contributions came from progressive hedge fund billionaire George Soros ($2.25 million) and ultra-liberal Netflix founder Reed Hastings and his wife ($2.15 million).\u00a0 An additional million was contributed by group of progressive Bay Area multi-millionaires.\u00a0 Virtually all of Lacey&#8217;s $7 million in support came from law enforcement groups.\u00a0 Was Lacey a bad District Attorney?\u00a0 No.\u00a0 She was a career prosecutor who worked her way up by doing her job of prosecuting criminals.\u00a0 But she wasn&#8217;t progressive enough, which made her the target of an aggressive campaign on Gasc\u00f3n&#8217;s behalf by the Soros-supported group Black Lives Matter, which even staged late night protests at Lacey&#8217;s home.\u00a0\u00a0 As the largest District Attorneys Office in the U.S., the LADA was a big prize for Soros, who has spent millions in recent years to bankroll campaigns putting progressive pro-defendant District Attorneys in Philadelphia,\u00a0 Chicago, San Francisco, and Orange-Osceola Florida among others.\u00a0 Soros doesn&#8217;t live in any of these places, so the policies of the prosecution offices he has purchased don&#8217;t effect him.\u00a0 The public pays for this in increased crime and violence, drug abuse, robbery and theft in the counties where Soros has bought the DA.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While there are still several hundred thousand votes yet to be counted, it appears that former San Francisco District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n has defeated incumbent Jackie Lacey in the race for Los Angeles County District Attorney.\u00a0\u00a0 Last year, Gasc\u00f3n resigned his post in San Francisco supposedly to take care of his mother in Los Angeles, then almost immediately announced he would challenge Lacey.\u00a0 His record in San Francisco had been abysmal.\u00a0 The city became the property crime capitol of America last year, and homicides increased dramatically under Gasc\u00f3n&#8217;s progressive anti-law enforcement leadership.\u00a0 Even ultra-liberal SF Mayor London Breed endorsed Lacey. \u00a0 Yet Gasc\u00f3n won the LA vote by a margin of 7.5%.\u00a0 How did this happen?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[23],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2359","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Buying the Los Angeles District Attorney - Crime &amp;
