The Atlanta Police Department is reportedly down more than 200 officers, staffing has not been this low in more than 20 years. McWhiter recounted a statement by Atlanta Police Department spokesman Sgt. John Chafee, “We were dealing with increased hostility toward law enforcement and a decreased sense of trust toward police. Atlanta, as well as any other cities, saw an increase in officers leaving the job, further adding to the challenges faced in keeping our communities safe.” Law enforcement officers require the support of the community they serve to be effective at controlling crime and protecting the residents.

Many large U.S. cities are experiencing a spike in violent crimes, the question is what is causing this?
