{"id":3363,"date":"2021-04-07T14:29:29","date_gmt":"2021-04-07T21:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=3363"},"modified":"2021-04-07T14:29:29","modified_gmt":"2021-04-07T21:29:29","slug":"the-push-back-on-progressive-das","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=3363","title":{"rendered":"The Push Back on Progressive DAs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past two election cycles rich white liberals, such as George Soros, have pumped millions into passing ballot measures, and electing political candidates, including district attorneys that will reduce sentences for criminals, restrict prosecutions and essentially empty out jails and prisons based upon the myth of over-incarceration.\u00a0 The expressed motive behind this fiction is that consistently enforced laws against crime and increased sentences for repeat offenders is racist.\u00a0 The proof:\u00a0 blacks and Hispanics, <em>which commit crime at higher levels that other races,<\/em> are more frequently arrested, prosecuted and incarcerated than other races.\u00a0 Their narrative leaves out the <em>which commit crime at higher levels <\/em>part, and so does most of the national media.\u00a0 But to sell a lie over a long period of time, one must prevent the majority from finding out the truth.\u00a0 Today&#8217;s Wall Street Journal provides a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/a-soft-on-crime-backlash-11617748124\">case<\/a> in point.\u00a0 The powerful Democratic City Committee in Philadelphia has voted not to endorse progressive District Attorney Larry Krasner&#8217;s reelection this year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Krasner swept into office in 2017 with major support from Soros and promises to end the systematic racism embedded in the District Attorney&#8217;s office by reducing prosecutions and seeking lighter sentences.\u00a0 He was effective at this, reducing prosecutions from 757 the year before he was elected to 525 last year.\u00a0 While Krasner assured everyone that these actions would not jeopardize public safety, the truth has become difficult to deny.\u00a0 There were 500 murders in Philly last year compared to 315 in 2017.\u00a0 Most of last year&#8217;s 2,220 shooting victims were black and auto thefts have increased by over 63% on Krasner&#8217;s watch.\u00a0 The public has figured out that letting criminals off easy begets more crime.\u00a0 This year Krasner is being challenged in the upcoming May primary by Carlos Vega, a veteran homicide prosecutor he fired as soon as he took office.\u00a0 As the Journal notes, Krasner remains popular in affluent neighborhoods with less crime, &#8220;but a lot of pushback is coming from those areas that are experiencing a higher rate of gun crimes,&#8221;
