{"id":5683,"date":"2022-01-24T12:18:13","date_gmt":"2022-01-24T20:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=5683"},"modified":"2022-01-24T12:21:09","modified_gmt":"2022-01-24T20:21:09","slug":"copycat-gascon-recall-undermines-legitimate-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=5683","title":{"rendered":"Copycat Gasc\u00f3n Recall Undermines Legitimate Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an apparent effort to divert money away from the legitimate campaign to recall pro-criminal LA District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n, a copycat recall effort called Recall Gasc\u00f3n Now (RGN) has been launched.\u00a0 The group does not have a recall petition and, based upon its website, apparently intends to copy the legitimate petition and circulate it as their own.\u00a0 The Metropolitan News Enterprise <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metnews.com\/articles\/2022\/GASCON_Sidebar.htm\">reports<\/a> that former LA District Attorney Steve Cooley, co-Chairman of the Recall DA George Gasc\u00f3n Committee said those behind RGN are &#8220;rogue, gadfly activists,&#8221; and that their false campaign was an attempt to &#8220;sabotage, undermine and confuse the recall.&#8221; \u00a0 Last December Cooley&#8217;s Committee announced that it had raised $2.5 million and hired professional management to begin the recall effort this year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>An email from the Committee sent out in mid-January stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere has been some confusion regarding the existence of another committee called Recall Gascon Now, which is led by Karen Roseberry and Marc Ang.\u00a0 Recall Gascon Now has nothing to do with the official Recall DA George Gascon Committee. We\u2019ve learned that Recall Gascon Now has downloaded our Recall DA George Gascon Committee\u2019s financial reports to directly solicit our donors and attempt to trick them into donating to the Recall Gascon Now committee. This is both unethical and deceitful.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A campaign spokesman for the Committee said that those involved with RGN have indicated that they would consider ending their copycat recall effort if the Committee would give them paid positions and\/or control of resources.\u00a0 Karen Roseberry told Jill McLaughlin of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/groups-compete-for-donors-in-recall-of-da-gascon_4211644.html\">Epoch Times<\/a> earlier this month that she formed the smaller Recall Gasc\u00f3n Now effort after the official recall organization declined to offer her a full-time, paid position as a political consultant.\u00a0 \u201cThere is more than enough money to go around.
