{"id":6147,"date":"2022-03-23T13:00:54","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T20:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=6147"},"modified":"2022-03-23T14:26:44","modified_gmt":"2022-03-23T21:26:44","slug":"the-crime-epidemic-in-larry-krasners-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=6147","title":{"rendered":"The Crime Epidemic in Larry Krasner&#8217;s Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Crime is out of control in Philadelphia.\u00a0 There were 562 homicides last year, twice as many than eight years ago, and homicides have increased by 19% so far this year.\u00a0 The city&#8217;s Police Commissioner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/philadelphia-crime-carjackings-tripled\">reports<\/a> that last year&#8217;s 750 carjackings were triple the number in 2019.\u00a0\u00a0 For perspective, New York City, which has more than five times the population of Philadelphia, had 485 homicides and 510 carjackings last year.\u00a0\u00a0 A data <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/philadelphia-justice\/data-snapshot-incidents-arrests-and-charges-november-2021-6d4d24cc1c96\">snapshot<\/a> from last year indicates that police arrested only 31% of the Philadelphia&#8217;s murderers, 14% of criminals who shot people,\u00a0 and 11% of those committing property crimes.\u00a0 &#8220;Far too many in our city think that it&#8217;s open season to commit crime here in Philadelphia,&#8221; said the Police Commissioner.\u00a0 They think it&#8217;s open season because <em>it is<\/em> open season.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The breakdown in Philadelphia law enforcement began in 2011, when the Obama Justice Department placed the police department under a consent decree in response to an ACLU lawsuit claiming the department was racially biased.\u00a0 As a result, proactive policing ended in the city.\u00a0 Police stops dramatically declined.\u00a0 &#8220;There\u2019s no fear of being caught carrying a gun illegally in the city of Philadelphia,&#8221; retired Philadelphia police Deputy Commissioner Joe Sullivan told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/philadelphia-record-homicides-chicago-murders-2022\">Fox News<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 Then in 2017, George Soros bankrolled the election of defense attorney Larry Krasner as District Attorney.\u00a0 Krasner&#8217;s stated objective is to keep criminals from going to jail or prison.\u00a0 He refuses to seek the death penalty for the city&#8217;s worst murderers.\u00a0 He has eliminated bail for most property and drug offenses.\u00a0 He has reduced supervision for offenders on parole and he refuses to seek longer sentences for repeat offenders. \u00a0 In the midst of Philadelphia&#8217;s historic wave of crime and violence, Krasner <a href=\"https:\/\/data.philadao.com\/\">boasts<\/a> about his success at reducing the sentences of criminals in the city by over 27,000 years and supervision of criminals on parole by over 113,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>As noted by Sullivan, &#8220;You can follow a timeline of the rise in homicide and the rise in violent crime and compare that to when the present DA took office, and you can see the relationship very easily.
