{"id":6970,"date":"2022-06-29T14:22:57","date_gmt":"2022-06-29T21:22:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=6970"},"modified":"2022-06-29T14:23:57","modified_gmt":"2022-06-29T21:23:57","slug":"murder-victims-family-fights-gascons-sentence-reduction-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=6970","title":{"rendered":"Murder Victim&#8217;s Family Fights Gascon&#8217;s Sentence Reduction Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another Los Angeles County murderer is seeking to benefit from progressive District Attorney George Gasc\u00f3n&#8217;s policy of reducing all death sentences to life without parole.\u00a0 My News LA <a href=\"https:\/\/mynewsla.com\/crime\/2022\/06\/22\/family-urges-judge-not-to-re-sentence-man-on-death-row\/\">reports<\/a> that Scott Forest Collins was sentenced to death for the 1996 robbery and murder of Fred Rose in North Hollywood.\u00a0 Now, twenty-six years later, Gasc\u00f3n&#8217;s hand picked deputy, former defense attorney\u00a0 Shelan Joseph, is partnering with the murderer&#8217;s attorney to request that Collin&#8217;s death sentence be vacated.\u00a0 On behalf of Rose&#8217;s widow and two daughters, former LADA Steve Cooley and former Deputy DA Kathleen Cady have petitioned the court to deny the murderer&#8217;s request.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When the evidence suggests that the District Attorney&#8217;s Office and the defense are in collusion, the court is the final and only gate keeper to ensure that justice is done and the victims&#8217;
