Scott Schwebke has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2022\/12\/06\/county-ordered-to-work-with-gascon-recall-group-reviewing-invalid-petition-signatures\/\">this report<\/a> in the Orange County Register.<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The recall committee has said it has found \u201cobvious and legitimate challenges\u201d for at least 39% of invalidated signatures it has reviewed. Purported problems with the tally include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Signatures that were invalidated as \u201cprinted\u201d even when the voter\u2019s signature on file was itself printed.<\/li>\n<li>Signatures rejected as \u201cnonmatching\u201d despite showing substantial similarities to the signature on file.<\/li>\n<li>The invalidation of signatures as \u201cnot registered\u201d when, in fact, the person was a registered voter who could easily be identified in the voter database.<\/li>\n<li>Signatures that were invalidated as duplicates without election officials counting at least one of the alleged duplicates, as required by law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>By the registrar&#8217;s count, the petition drive was 46,807 signatures short.
