{"id":8297,"date":"2022-12-09T13:12:02","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T21:12:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=8297"},"modified":"2022-12-15T09:19:28","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T17:19:28","slug":"mississippi-to-execute-rape-murderer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=8297","title":{"rendered":"Mississippi to Execute Rape\/Murderer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state of Mississippi is set to execute Thomas Edwin Loden Jr.\u00a0 on Wednesday, December 14 for the 2000 kidnap, rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl.\u00a0 The Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/judge-allows-mississippi-execution-amid-144410914.html\">reports<\/a> on a judge&#8217;s ruling allowing the state to move forward with Loden&#8217;s execution despite his pending lawsuit challenging the state&#8217;s three-drug protocol.\u00a0 As detailed in a 2013 federal District Court <a href=\"https:\/\/casetext.com\/case\/loden-v-epps-1\">decision<\/a> denying Loden&#8217;s claims on habeas corpus; on the evening of June 22, 2020 witnesses saw Lodin flirting with sixteen-year-old Leesa Marie Gray while she was working in her family&#8217;s restaurant in Dorsey, Mississippi.\u00a0 At about 10:30 PM Lodin spotted Ms. Gray&#8217;s car on the side of a rural road with a flat tire.\u00a0 Initially, he offered to help her, but eventually forced her into this van and drove to his grandmother&#8217;s remote farm.\u00a0 &#8220;Over the course of the next few hours, he raped her numerous times and battered her sexually, videotaping portions of the abuse, before suffocating and strangling her to death inside of the van.
