{"id":9419,"date":"2023-08-14T15:33:40","date_gmt":"2023-08-14T22:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=9419"},"modified":"2023-08-15T08:35:54","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T15:35:54","slug":"hhs-tells-federal-workers-in-san-francisco-to-stay-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=9419","title":{"rendered":"HHS Tells Federal Workers in San Francisco to Stay Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Piling on to Kent&#8217;s recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crimeandconsequences.blog\/?p=9409\">post<\/a>, out-of-control crime is not only destroying the quality of life in San Francisco.\u00a0 While homicides in Oakland have dropped by 14% so far this year, burglaries have increased by a whopping 41% and robberies are up by 20% according this CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/rep-kiley-san-francisco-crime-control-employees-instructed-not-drive-work\">story<\/a>.\u00a0 In late June a sixty-year-old retiree was shot and killed in broad daylight while doing yardwork.\u00a0 Responding to the almost daily shootings, burglaries and robberies, Oakland police are telling residents to buy air horns to alert neighbors to intruders and put bars on doors and windows.\u00a0 While city leaders are promising to find ways to prevent crime, some residents have had enough.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Lifetime Oakland resident Kristin Cook is picking up and moving to Texas to protect her teenaged son,\u00a0 &#8220;I love Oakland&#8230;.I can&#8217;t take it anymore.\u00a0 I got to the point I was too scared to leave my house,&#8221; she told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>Along with a soft-on-crime Mayor and city council,\u00a0 last fall Oakland voters elected progressive Soros-backed District Attorney Pamela Price, who has promised to underprosecute black offenders to make up for racism.\u00a0 In late July the NAACP and prominent pastor Bishop Bob Jackson demanded action, noting that African American neighborhoods are disproportionately victimized by crime, they blamed &#8220;failed leadership&#8221;
