Media Lies About The Rioting
Since the televised George Floyd killing in late May, a well-organized and funded army of thousands of activists have invaded scores of U.S. cities to protest against what Black Lives Matter leaders characterize as systemic racism infecting every facet of American society. While much of the mainstream media has told the public that these protests were peaceful, or mostly peaceful, local news outlets and independent on-site reporters have confirmed that, in many if not most cases, these protests turned violent, destroying millions of dollars of property, and injuring or killing dozens of law enforcement officers, property owners and occasionally a random bystander. On May 28, MSNBC reporter Ali Velshi won the “Baghdad Bob” award for standing in front of burning buildings in Minneapolis while telling viewers “this is mostly a protest. It is not generally speaking unruly. But fires have been started.”
The false “peaceful protest” narrative got a strong boost this week from Los Angeles Times staff writer Matt Pearce’s article comparing President Trump’s approach to policing with that of candidate Joe Biden. Right out of the gate Pearce reveals his bias as he writes about Trump’s hard line on policing “symbolized most dramatically by his administration using federal law enforcement and security forces to violently clear out peaceful protesters outside the While House so he could pose holding a bible outside a nearby church.” Below is a picture of those “peaceful protesters,” turning over a car outside the White House from a Daily Mail report.
A news story from the Hill included on-scene reporters writing “Protestors pull flag from St. John’s Church, now adding tree limbs to fire. No response still.” “Rioters have lit the secret service guard shack on fire RIGHT OUTSIDE the White House. This is getting out of hand. 40 secret service agents are injured.”
St. John’s is not just a “nearby church,” but rather the historic Church of the Presidents, visited by every sitting President since James Madison. There was a riot in Lafayette Park that night and rioters threw Molotov cocktails and bottles at the police and set fire to an historic church. Officers were injured. Federal agents used tear gas to clear the rioters out of the park so the Fire Department could put out the fires and save the church. Pearce flat out lied about the whole thing and the LA Times published it.
The rest of his piece is predictable bilge about the President’s approach “emphasizing domination and force over civil liberties and due process,” while Biden’s position has been evolving and is now more sensitive to social justice and reforms such as ending mandatory minimum sentencing and decriminalizing marijuana.
News Flash: a Gallup Poll last month reported that 61% of black Americans do not want a reduced police presence in their neighborhoods while an additional 20% of blacks want to see increased policing. Black Lives Matter does not speak for the overwhelming majority of black Americans. The group is a tool for anarchists who want to destroy the country.
