BLM Forms PAC to Target DAs & Sheriffs
The co-founder of Black Lives Matter has announced the formation of a political action committee (PAC) which will focus on the elections of county sheriffs and district attorneys. Maya King of Politico reports that group will announce a slate of preferred candidates ahead of the upcoming November 3 election. While the mainstream media likes to portray BLM as a disorganized grassroots movement, this fiction does not square with the well-coordinated and equipped protests that have been launched simultaneously in cities across the country over the past five months or the group’s bank account.
According to the story, BLM is launching a multi-million dollar voter outreach campaign, and is coordinating efforts with over 50 “social justice” organizations across the country to get young people of color to the polls this fall. The group has already endorsed the failed former San Francisco DA George Gascon for District Attorney of Los Angeles over the incumbent Jackie Lacey. Lacey, a black moderate career-prosecutor, has committed the sin of prosecuting criminals rather than using her office as a platform for the social justice narrative.
What kind of District Attorneys will BLM endorse? Look to Chicago’s Cook County States Attorney Kim Foxx, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin as the role models. Each has demonstrated zero concern for public safety, an open disdain for the police and little interest in holding criminals accountable. The result of electing these people to head law enforcement agencies has been predictable. Homicides have increased 37% this year in Chicago, over 45% in San Francisco, and 38% in Philadelphia. The BLM candidates for county sheriff will have a similar impact on public safety.
To Black Lives Matter, police and prosecutors are the enemy. Police departments must be defunded and district attorneys who base every prosecution decision on race must be elected. An August Gallup poll found that 81% of blacks either want to keep the current level of policing in their neighborhoods or they want it increased. So, while the mainstream media portrays Black Lives Matter as the voice of black America, at best only 19% of blacks actually support its agenda. So who does the group actually represent?
Major support for Black Lives Matter comes from the Democracy Alliance a group created in 2005 by a handful of major donors, including billionaire financier George Soros and Taco Bell heir Rob McKay, to support liberal causes. Politico reports that the DA’s combined donations to groups, including BLM now total more than $500 million. Other beneficiaries include the Center for American Progress think tank, the liberal attack dog Media Matters and the Democratic data firm Catalist. As noted by NBC News, since the death of George Floyd, dozens of corporations that support liberal causes have stumbled over themselves to demonstrate their wokeness by pledging millions to BLM including, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Coca Cola, Nike, Uber and YouTube.
Unfortunately, because it is galactically unwoke, there is no corresponding cadre of billionaires and corporations interested in funding any group that dares to defend law enforcement.
