SCOTUS Conference
Today is conference day at the U.S. Supreme Court. There are three criminal cases that have been relisted for another look multiple times. United States v. Tsarnaev, No. 20-443, is the Marathon Bomber case. See this post and this one. Johnson v. Precythe, 20-287, involves method-of-execution litigation. Harris v. Maryland, 20-101, involves a speedy trial claim.
On its first relist, Wooden v. United States, No. 20-5279, is a Fourth Amendment case involving use of a pretext to obtain consent to enter a house.
There is still time for cases taken up at this conference to be heard this term. I do hope the Court takes up the Marathon Bomber case, in particular, for argument in April.
John Elwood has his usual, very helpful relist list at SCOTUSblog, with a link to an explanation of “relists.”
