How to Stop Protesters From Attacking Homes

One of the more troubling aspects of America’s recent version of protests, involves activists actually attacking the homes of government officials whose opinions or actions don’t fit the latest woke narrative.  James Rainey of the Los Angeles Times reports that in recent months the homes of LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best, LA Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer, and liberal Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg have been the scene of late night protests, sometimes with bullhorns and vandalism.  The reporter actually touched upon a much broader problem, that involves activists groups doxing (giving out the addresses) of reporters, politicians and television personalities they don’t like and encouraging, over social media, organized attacks on their homes.  This has typically happened to conservatives including Senator Lindsey Graham,  Fox host Tucker Carlson and Congressman Josh Hawley for example.  But now liberals, who aren’t liberal enough are getting this treatment.  What to do?

How about enforcing the law?  The Times piece notes that after the Sacramento Mayor’s house was protested and vandalized,  the next target was  going to be City Manager Howard Chan.  When city leaders got the word they untied the hands of police which responded in force, resulting in only about 30 protesters showing up and quickly wandering off.  Activists were not happy.  One “musician” who sides with the protesters told the Times that two-faced public officials are fair game for such tactics.  “you should be terrorized for the rest of your life.  You should never be able to leave your house…”   No, it wasn’t Congresswoman Maxine Waters, but it sure sounds like her.

As liberal public officials have become the target of these protests, some are starting to realize that there is no negotiating with anarchists.  That recognition, and the courage to act upon it is essential to restoring law and order.

Unfortunately, I fear that the targets and potential targets are going to need to consider hiring private security details. We know from 1930’s Germany what happens when Brownshirts are not confronted and defeated early.
