The Soros-Funded Drug Crisis
An opinion piece by Rachel Ehrenfeld of Fox News focuses upon the dramatic increase in drug use in America. She takes us back to 1994, when 90% of Americans opposed the use of illegal drugs. That was about the same time that George Soros, the liberal hedge-fund billionaire, established his Open Society Foundation in New York. One of the foundation’s initial efforts to soften opposition to drug abuse was to distribute “safe smoking kits” to those using marijuana and hash. In the pursuit of legalizing drugs, Soros funded pro-drug organizations to lobby the public and lawmakers with assurances that marijuana was relatively harmless, non-addictive and was useful in treating depression and other conditions. They also promised that taxes on legal pot would generate billions in new revenue for state and county governments. After successfully targeting Colorado, California and Arizona for legalization, the campaign eventually won legalization of marijuana in 37 states In 2022 the Biden Administration copied the Soros program for users of harder drugs, beginning distribution “safe user kits” which come with clean needles, and crack pipes. Remarkably the Administration reported that this effort was implemented to promote racial equality by providing the drug use kits to “under-resourced populations such as racial, sexual, gender and ethnic minority groups.” Last year a Pew Research survey found that 88% of the U.S. population now support legalization of marijuana.
Unfortunately, none of the promises made by the Soro-bankrolled legalization advocates have come true. As the number of regular pot users has soared to over 52 million Americans, the National Institute of Drug Abuse reports that over 16 million have been diagnosed with ‘cannabis use disorder” or in layman’s terms addiction. Last year NBC News reported on a study in the Lancet that psychotic disorders among daily marijuana users were 3 1/2 time higher than for those who did not use the drug. Other university research indicates that smoking marijuana puts users at a high risk of respiratory diseases such as chronic bronchitis. An associate director at the Yale School of Medicine asked ‘how many other medicines do you know of that are smoked?”
“Moreover, the growing consumption of marijuana is contributing to skyrocketing healthcare costs. The drug often contains toxic chemicals–E. coli, methamphetamines, and other narcotics, including deadly fentanyl—sickening many consumers and increasing overdosing. While Soros and his pro-legalization movement pooh-poohed NIDA’s 2014 warning that “More than half of new illicit drug users begin with marijuana,” the rising number of drug addicts throughout the country has increased homelessness, health hazards, and crime that, together with the nauseating stench that dominates small and big city streets are driving away tourists, businesses, and residents.”
The demand for marijuana skyrocketed after legalization, with New Yorkers consuming roughly 62 metric tons of pot each year, valued and nearly $8, billion, but most of the pot purchased comes from the unregulated and untaxed black market. In states like California, legal pot sales totaled $4 billion in 2022, while Illegal sales totaled $8 billion.
Although his marketing campaign to legalize marijuana was based on lies, Soros has succeeded spectacularly.
It has also provided strong encouragement for the legalization of other dangerous hallucinogens such as “magic mushrooms” or psilocybin, mescaline, and LSD. Legislation to legalize some or all of these psychedelics is being considered in California and Washington state.
Weakening the population through the legalization of drugs while simultaneously supporting the elimination of consequences for crime has turned U.S. cities unto crime-infested sewers littered with homeless unemployable drug addicts.
This looks a lot like recipe for destroying America.
Not that I have personal experience, but the pot that is smoked today isn’t your granddad’s weed.
