Say, friend, how do you pronounce “amicus”?
Amy Howe at SCOTUSblog has this post of some of the less earth-shaking divisions of opinion at the Supreme Court. Among them is how to pronounce the Latin word for “friend.” Amicus curiae is Latin for “friend of the court,” and we at CJLF have filed a few hundred amicus briefs at the high court.
For the record, I agree the Roberts/Kavanaugh pronunciation: “a-mee-cus.”
