Criminal Released Early in San Francisco Stabs Elderly Woman
The NYPost has this story on a 94-year-old Asian woman, Ann Taylor, who was stabbed by a man who was under ankle monitor surveillance when he committed this unprovoked attack against her in front of her San Francisco residence. The man, Daniel Cauich, “…had reportedly been arrested five times last year on burglary charges, was sprung by a judge on June 7 to await his trial after his most recent arrest for burglary on May 18.”
Cauich has quite the history of crime and arrests, including a fatal stabbing five years ago for which he was acquitted by a judge due to lack of evidence. However, since his release he has continued to engage in illegal activity. His most recent conviction was for multiple burglary charges and sentenced to one year in jail and probation. He was released after serving just over 100 days. This is a prime example of how the policies of progressive District Attorneys, such as Chesa Boudin, allow for criminals to go unpunished and fail to protect the public. Granting early release for a habitual felon charged with five burglaries is an engraved invitation to commit additional crimes against innocent victims. But Chesa Boudin is not the only one to blame. Criminal-coddling laws including Jerry Brown’s AB109, called “Public Safety Realignment” and the Brown/Soros financed Proposition 47, “The Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act,” share responsibility for putting this predator back on the streets resulting in the totally unnecessary attack on this elderly woman.
