Coverage of Jones Decision
Not a lot of media coverage of the Jones v. Mississippi decision. A lot of other events were happening yesterday. Jessica Gresko has this story for Associated Press:
In a statement, Kymberlee Stapleton of the California-based Criminal Justice Legal Foundation called the decision a “victory for the families of victims murdered by juveniles.”
The story begins:
The Supreme Court made it easier Thursday to sentence minors convicted of murder to life in prison without the possibility of parole, a ruling that reflects a change in course driven by a more conservative group of justices.
Court composition does matter, to be sure. Would the case have been decided the same way if the Court had the same composition as five years ago, when it decided Montgomery v. Louisiana? Probably not.
Update: Also, Matthew Vadum has this article in the Epoch Times.
